Masters Traffic Expectations

We're getting ready for the Masters in Augusta.  If you've been in Augusta during this time in years past, you know that traffic can be very heavy. With this year being different, the Masters traffic expectations are hard to predict.

WRDW is reporting that the morning traffic should not be as much of an issue, as patrons usually arrive very early.  It may be afternoons that are the heaviest.  While traffic on Washington Road usually doubles during Masters Week, Augusta's Traffic Engineering Department is predicting only 6 to 10 thousand more cars than on a typical day.

Unlike previous years, they will NOT be redirecting traffic to Riverwatch or Walton Way.  There also won't be any lane closures.

There will be staff at the traffic management center.  They will be monitoring and manually controlling traffic lights during the tournament.

They will have barriers on standby if needed.  Without knowing how many people are coming into town, and how many people aren't leaving town like normal, it's difficult to know for sure what to expect.
