FEEL GOOD FRIDAY: Augusta Organization Gets Help From Community
A feel good story for your Friday!
Boys with a Future is a program founded by Good Neighbor Ministries back in 2019. It’s an after school program. The group recently started their own lawn care business and are gaining a lot of community support.
The director of Boys with a Future, Russell Joel Brown, said they had someone gift a riding lawn mower. The only issue is the group had no way of transporting it. Brown took to Facebook, posting about their need for a trailer.
Brown says he got some responses. But, it wasn’t until Austin Rhodes saw the post and shared it to his page that it really gained attention. Brown says “the whole sky opened up.”
The Community Stepped Up!
The post blew up with many people reaching out to help. Brown said there were over 250 responses. From those responses, a person actually donated the right type of trailer they were in need of. Rental Quip even donated a brand new zero turn mower to the group. Other people offered weed eaters, other trailers and more.
When asked about Boys with a Future, Austin Rhodes says, “It’s such a great group of young men with such a special mission and such a specific mission that when people in the landscaping business heard about it, they knew how easy it would be to help out by chipping in and it just worked out beautifully and that community really came together for those young men, no doubt.”
The group is now fully equipped and ready for business. They are all extremely thankful for the generosity of the community. They were grateful to see the community acknowledge an issue and help find a solutions.
Rhodes says, “CSRA represents a lot of different neighborhoods, a lot of different communities, but we are one big happy family when it comes to missions like this.”
