Olivia Newtown John died at the age of 73, according to CNN. While no specific cause was given, Newton-John has had breast cancer for more than 30 years. Her husband John Easterling, who she married in 2008, says she died peacefully at her ranch in Southern California this morning (8/8), surrounded by "family and friends."

She is best known for her 1978 starring role opposite John Travolta in Grease. She sang several songs from the movie, including "You're the One that I Want," "Summer Nights," and "Hopelessly Devoted to You." Olivia's most significant hit outside of Grease was the 1981 song '"Physical."

Before she made it into pop music, she was well-known for her country hits from the early 1970s, including "If Not for You," and in 1973, "Let Me Be There, and "Have You Never Been Mellow." She won the CMA's Female Vocalist award in 1974. That same year, she won the ACM's New Female Vocalist honor. She has also won four Grammys in her career.

Olivia was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1992, but it went into remission and came back in 2013. It went back into remission but surfaced again in 2017.
