Ever notice how the sound of someone chewing or slurping noodles can drive certain people crazy? It's like nails on a chalkboard for them. But there are actually food sounds that people absolutely love. Some people can't get enough of satisfying food sounds. A recent survey, commissioned by Cadbury Brunch Bar and completed by OnePoll, asked 2,000 people to reveal their favorite food sounds.

To enhance the snacking survey experience, the brand joined forces with Josie Gibson to create ASMR (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response) content. Together, they curated a sensory feast, combining an orchestra of sounds, textures, and flavors.

Crunch, bubble, fizz, and sizzle...most satisfying

When it comes to the sensory experience of food, the study revealed that six in ten people believe that sound enhances the enjoyment of food. The favorite food noise among participants was sizzling (50%), followed by crunching (31%), bubbling (20%), and fizzing (16%).

Food sounds make you feel hungry

According to the study, 63% of participants believe that food sounds take their eating experience to a whole new level of enjoyment. And 47% claim certain food sounds make them instantly feel hungry.

The most satisfying food sounds

The study found the top contender for the most satisfying food sound was the sizzle of bacon in a pan. Winning over the hearts of 33% of participants who say it brings them sheer happiness. Interestingly, the sound of slicing through a crusty bread loaf proved to be a favorite for 26% of respondents. While 9% found joy in the hissing sound of vegetables landing in a hot wok.

Additionally, the delightful crunch of taking the first bite into a crisp apple was loved by 16% of those surveyed, and 13% expressed their love for the satisfying noise of popping popcorn.

Take a look at the complete study findings here and uncover the other food sounds that made the cut for the most satisfying experiences.
