Georgia Sushi Restaurant Named A Best In The Country

A recent report by IBIS World detailed that there are 19,742 sushi restaurant businesses in the United States. There are roughly 7,000 more sushi establishments in 2023 than ten years ago. That makes it even more impressive that one of them from Georgia has been named one of the best sushi restaurants in the country by Time Out.

Sushi has become so popular that many platforms publish reports on the overall sushi industry in America. USA Today recently detailed that 5 million Americans eat this cuisine at least once a month. Furthermore, “Google Trends data shows it’s twice as popular as it was five years ago and more than three times as popular as a decade ago,” they state.

Sushi also has the flexibility to satisfy as an appetizer or to serve as a full meal. When searching for the best sushi, “fresh” is always a priority. In addition, seeing the chef hand-roll your pieces only enhances the overall experience.

So where do you find this sushi restaurant in Georgia that was named one of the best?

Atlanta – Umi

Located at One Buckhead Plaza, Umi is only open for dinner hours. Four days a week, it is open for only four hours (it’s closed on Sunday). Their approach mixes modern Japanese flavors with a traditional and classic approach to cooking sushi. Umi is also a family establishment. Fuyuhiko Ito is the chef, and Ito’s wife, Lisa, is the pastry chef.

“Our menu showcases the freshest fish from the world’s finest markets and highest quality ingredients available,” Umi states. Therefore, the sushi and sashimi options are extensive. There are six full pages of options here, including “Sousaku Nigiri,” the chef’s signature creation.

The best sushi restaurant in Georgia offers unique dishes like the “Osaka-style box-pressed oshizushi and lightly seared aburi,” that Time Out mentions. If a simpler order is more your style, you have numerous tempura and tuna rolls to pick from.
