Body Found Under Augusta’s Calhoun Bridge
An investigation is underway following the discovery this morning of a body under the Calhoun Bridge in Augusta.
A crew cutting the grass discovered the body at 9:49 am at Broad Street and Washington Road. Richmond County investigators say they found the body of a white male who was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:15 am. Richmond County Coroner Mark Bowen said the man has been identified as 43-year-old Matthew Watkins, who was homeless. His body has been sent to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy.
