Ulta in Mullins Crossing has been Hit by Perfume Thieves
Although shoplifting is nothing new, Marshall’s and Ulta have been targeted by thieves who seem to like perfume.
In October, 2023, the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office says two women stole $500 wroth of perfume from Ulta in Mullins Crossing.
In late 2022, authorities were looking for a woman who stole $1,000 worth of perfume from that same Ulta store.
Shoplifting Drives Prices Up
Stores owners have to recover the cost of items that are stolen and more times than not, that means prices will be going up.
Shoplifting cost retailers nationwide an estimated $100 billion in 2021.
Under Georgia’s shoplifting laws, if the property a person is convicted of stealing is valued at less than $300, it’s charged as a misdemeanor with potential sentences of up to 1 year in prison and up to $1,000 in fines. Punishments grow harsher with each subsequent offense.
