These Are the Most Armed Areas in Georgia
If you’re ever wondered which areas of Georgia are the most armed areas in the state, there’s a new study out that sheds some light on it. The study highlights areas of Georgia with the most gun crime, but aside from that, they also points out the areas with the highest number of guns per people.
The Most Armed Areas in Georgia
The new study from 247wallst.com notes that “of the nearly 496,600 firearms traced by the ATF in 2022, 22,656 were seized by law enforcement in Georgia.” They also states that, “Gun violence is often concentrated in certain areas, and in Georgia, only 10 cities accounted for nearly 50% of all gun tracings in 2022.”
Before we get to Georgia and its most armed areas, it’s worth noting that another study done by City-data.com actually lists the top 100 counties in America with the most firearms, and Florida didn’t even make the top 100. The county with the most firearms in America, according to City-data.com, is Stewart County in Tennessee. No. 2 is Fairbanks North Star Borough, Arkansas, and No. 3 is Nez Perce County, Idaho. As for general numbers, according to Statista.com, “the share of American households owning at least one firearm has remained relatively steady since 1972, hovering between 37 percent and 47 percent. In 2023, about 42 percent of U.S. households had at least one gun in their possession.”
Now, let’s get to Georgia and the most armed areas. They note that “While Atlanta led the state with nearly 4,400 firearm tracings in 2022, adjusting for population, several other cities appear to have far higher rates of gun violence.” So, the city with the most guns per 10,000 people in Georgia is actually Jonesboro with 1177.8 guns per 10,000 people in 2022. The total firearm tracings in the city for 2022 was 520, which was 2.3% of all firearms traced in Georgia. If you’re wondering, No. 2 on the list is Conyers with 300.9 guns per 10,000 people in 2022. That’s a huge drop from the Jonesboro numbers, which is fascinating.
