Former Brookwood School Nurse Accused of Taking Student Medication
Former Brookwood school nurse Ashley Staulcup faces charges in connection with medication that was allegedly taken from the school’s clinic.
Parents of Brookwood Elementary School students were notified today that Columbia County School District Police had reason to suspect the tampering of some medication stored in the school clinic.
Now, Columbia County School District Police say Staulcup, who was working at the school, has admitted to taking medication from the clinic.
School officials have confirmed Staulcup is no longer employed by the school and has been charged by the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.
Earlier Today, Parents Were Asked to go to Brookwood Elementary if Your Child has Medication Stored There
A statement from Brookwood Principal Melissa Culpepper said, “Out of an abundance of caution, we ask that if you have a medication provided to the school clinic, to please come inspect the contents and if necessary, at your discretion, provide a replacement.”
Culpepper added, “No further medication will be dispensed until this process has been verified.”
Columbia County school officials said they are taking allegations such as these extremely seriously and are fully investigating, confirming that the former Brookwood Elementary school nurse has been charged
School operations are continuing at Brookwood today as normal. The ongoing investigation will not disrupt instruction, according to Culpepper.
