Beasley Augusta Celebrates International Women’s Day

Today, Beasley Augusta Celebrates International Women's Day! This day is celebrated every year on March 8th.  It's a day to highlight the social, economic and political achievements of women around the world. Throughout history, women have often had less opportunity-- from education, careers, pay and more. However, throughout the years, women continue to break glass ceilings and overcome many obstacles.  According to National Day Calendar, just over 100 years ago, only .2% of our Congress consisted of women.  In fact, the 65th Congress had ONE woman! As of 2020, women now hold 23.7% of the U.S. Congressional seats.  Not a huge difference, considering the United Nations statistics show our percentage matches the worldwide average for women in office. Today, we celebrate the many accomplishments of incredible women! We also encourage women to go after their dreams.  Not only do we celebrate on International Women's Day... it's also Women's History Month! Many organizations and communities are celebrating the strong, inspiring, wonderful women that have achieved great things, and continue to lead the way for others.  There are so many influential women- in fact, here are the top 10 most influential women of 2022!
