Oscar Meyer Blew Off ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’ Collaboration
A24 is basking in its massive Oscar nominations sweep. Everything Everywhere All at Once dominated with 11 nominations — more than any other film this year. Other A24 films nominated were The Whale (3 nominations), Aftersun (1 nomination), Marcel The Shell With Shoes On (1 nomination), Close (1 nomination) and Causeway (1 nomination).
Following the nominations news, A24 took to Instagram to call out a different kind of Oscar. Apparently, the production company pitched a collaboration to use their hot dogs in the film in February 2022. A24 shared a screenshot of their unanswered DM to Oscar Meyer. A24’s caption read: “When one Oscar lets you down, another comes through.”
If you haven’t yet watched Everything Everywhere All At Once, it is a “multiverse” movie. And in one of the universes, everyone has hot dog fingers — it is one of the most hilarious parts of the film.

Oscar Mayer took the loss and owned it on Instagram in a fun way. “The L is on us. Congrats to @a24 for #KeepingItOscar. Sending you buns of love,” the company captioned a picture of hands made out of hot dogs with the fingers in the shape of an “L.”
Another company that missed out on a huge movie opportunity is M&M’s, which was featured in 1982’s E.T. Reese’s Pieces candy, which was a failing company at the time, wasn’t even in director Stephen Spielberg’s original script. According to Mashed, Spielberg started with the makers of M&M’s to feature his favorite candy.
Mars, Inc. — the parent company of M&M’s — wanted more information than Spielberg was willing to provide, including the script, which was entirely under wraps. Though the production team gave Mars generalities of the movie synopsis, they passed on the deal.
When Spielberg approached The Hershey Company to use Hershey’s Kisses as a next-best option, Hershey’s made the deal work for them. The brand said yes to the tie-in deal but insisted it features Reese’s Pieces because they needed a sales boost. The movie alone increased Reese’s Pieces sales by 65% within the two weeks following the release.
