Zack Snyder Doesn’t Get Why People Don’t Like Amber Heard

Justice League director Zack Snyder is reflecting on his role for Warner Bros. for years in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter. He tells the publication he never took on the job thinking he was "the architect of DC." He says, "I didn’t care [about that]. I liked Batman, I liked Superman, I wanted to make something cool. You picked the wrong guy if you wanted a product." Snyder also directed 2013’s Man of Steel and 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. However, he tells the publication he has no future plans to return to DC unless a "true representation" of Frank Miller's 1986 Dark Knight Returns comic would be adapted into a film. Working with Amber Heard Despite leaving DC, Snyder keeps in touch with some of the people he used to work with. Among them is Amber Heard, who he cast as Mera in 2017's Justice League. Heard has since reprised the role in the following year's Aquaman film and will appear once again in this month's Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. The one thing Snyder is appalled by is the online abuse amid controversy over her high-profile divorce from her ex-husband, Johnny Depp. "I just don’t get it. If other people don’t like her, I don’t know what to say," Snyder said. "I would work with her in a second." Last month, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom director James Wan spoke out about the false “narrative” surrounding the film’s reshoots. Responding to reports that the film had undergone extensive reshoots amid a turbulent production process, Wan told Empire magazine that they did seven or eight days of reshoots, "which is nothing for a movie of this size." The director explained that the reshoots were spread out because it is hard to get actors back after the initial shoot is completed. The release of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom was also delayed because of the Covid-19 pandemic, in addition to the leadership changes at DC Studios.
