Scottie Scheffler Handcuffed Outside Valhalla Golf Club
Scottie Scheffler was handcuffed and placed in a police vehicle this morning in Louisville, Kentucky.
The two-time Masters champion and world’s number one ranked golfer reportedly drove past police officers who were investigating a traffic fatality involving a pedestrian around 6:45 this morning, near Valhalla Golf Club.
A shuttle bus struck and killed the pedestrian, bringing traffic in the area to a standstill.
Witnesses said Scheffler attempted to drive past a police officer and into the golf club in what’s being called a misunderstanding with traffic flow.
ESPN reporter Jeff Darlington, who witnessed the incident, said an officer attached himself to the side of Scheffler’s car. Scheffler stopped. Darlington said the officer reached inside the vehicle to open the door, pulled Scheffler out, pushed him against the car, and handcuffed him.
Scheffler was taken away in a police car. The officer told Darlington, “Scottie Scheffler is going to jail.”

- Third-degree Criminal Mischief
- Reckless Driving
- Disregarding Traffic Signals from an Officer Directing Traffic
Round 2 of the Tournament
PGA of America officials said tee times for the second round of the tournament would be delayed. Traffic has delayed players and spectators being able to get to the course.
Tee times will be delayed by at least an hour.
