Jennifer Lopez Speaks Out Against ‘Negativity’ Amid Tour Cancellation
Jennifer Lopez has been living under a microscope more than usual lately. She’s had a rough time: from rumors of divorce with Ben Affleck and her tour being canceled completely.
The singer and actress, 54, canceled her summer concert tour last week, citing that she wants to spend more time with her family. Fans subscribed to her newsletter “On The Jlo” were sent a note about the reported success of her latest Netflix film Atlas. The letter is also visible on her website, which also features an interactive page all about the sci-fi film.
Lopez Speaks Out Against ‘Negativity’
The message begins with “THANK YOU.” Addressing her fans, J-Lo celebrates “great news” she was just made aware of, adding, “And it’s all because of YOU!!” Celebrating that Atlas was the number one movie in Netflix’s top 10 movie titles list, the mother of two shared an inspirational message.
“It may seem like there’s a lot of negativity out in the world right now…but don’t let the voices of a few drown out there is soooo much love out there,” her note reads. “Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I love you all so much. Jennifer.”
The Tour Cancellation
Live Nation and Lopez announced the cancellation of her “THIS IS ME…LIVE” tour last Friday (May 31), stating she would be “taking time off to be with her children, family, and close friends.”
“I am completely heartsick and devastated about letting you down. Please know that I wouldn’t do this if I didn’t feel that it was absolutely necessary,” Lopez said at the time. “I promise I will make it up to you and we will all be together again. I love you all so much. Until next time.”
As we previously reported in March, Lopez canceled some tour dates amid weak ticket sales. The tour would have been her first in five years.
While doing the press junket alongside co-star Simu Liu, the duo shut down a reporter's question about rumors of divorce with Affleck. The reporter asked, “Your divorce [with] Ben Affleck is real?” Bennifer wed two years ago after 20 years apart.
Liu came to Lopez’s defense and bluntly told the reporter, “Okay, we’re not doing that.” Redirecting the questions to not be on that subject, the Barbie star added, “Thank you so much. We really appreciate it … come on, don’t come in here with that energy. Please.” Lopez was even more hostile, telling the reporter simply, “You know better than that.”
