Ariana Grande: Roles Then, Now, and Dreaming Ahead
Ariana Grande has been ruling the music world for over a decade, but as most fans know she started as an actress. Recently, she wowed fans as Glinda in Jon M. Chu’s Wicked. But before her music career took off, she made a name for herself on Nickelodeon. Ariana played the quirky, sweet Cat Valentine in Victorious, and later starred in Sam & Cat.
Then came her music career, where she became known for her incredible vocal range and amazing soprano notes. Her time in Hollywood and the music business also introduced her to the beauty world. She learned tips from top makeup artists and launched her own brand, r.e.m. beauty.
Ariana’s Acting Adventures
Ariana has some fun acting credits you might not know about. She even appeared in Family Guy! In the episode “Mom’s the Word” (season 12, episode 12), she voices one of the Italian neighbors that Stewie and Brian spy on.
She also had a cameo in the 2016 movie Zoolander 2. Ariana played SM Girl, wearing a bold black latex outfit and channeling her Dangerous Woman era while flirting with Owen Wilson’s character.
Did Ariana and her Sam & Cat co-star Jennette McCurdy act together outside Nickelodeon? YES! They both voiced characters in the 2013 American version of Snowflake, the White Gorilla.
Ariana’s Broadway debut was in 13 in 2008, where she played Charlotte, one of the main characters in the musical. And here’s a fun fact: her Victorious co-star Elizabeth Gillies also starred in that show.
She also made an appearance in the apocalyptic satire Don’t Look Up. Ariana not only acted but also performed a song for the film.
In 2015, Ariana stole the show as Sonya Herfmann (a.k.a. Chanel #2) in the campy horror-comedy Scream Queens.
Ariana in the Matrix?
Could Ariana be headed to The Matrix? Rumors are swirling that she’s being considered for a lead role in the next movie, directed by Drew Goddard. Scooper @MyTimeToShineH claimed, “[Grande is] eyed for a leading role,” which has fans buzzing. Ariana herself told Jimmy Fallon, “I’m always going to make music… but I love transforming for a role.”
What about Ariana taking the lead in Disney’s live-action Hercules?
Fans also want her as Megara in Disney’s live-action Hercules. Ariana loves the idea but thinks her friend Elizabeth Gillies would be perfect for the part. “She’s brilliant,” Ariana said on Variety’s Awards Circut show.
Disney hasn’t confirmed any casting yet, but with their history of remaking classics like The Lion King and The Little Mermaid, Hercules is bound to be epic.
