Many Airlines Canceling Flights Due to Hurricane Idalia
Tampa International Airport has already shut down as Hurricane Idalia barrels toward the Florida coast. Many airlines, including Delta, American, Southwest, and Jet Blue have already started canceling flights across the Southeast for tomorrow. Also including flights to and from Hartsfield Atlanta International Airport.
Travelers are advised to check their flight status before heading to the airport on Wednesday.
Delta Airline’s waiver of a difference in fare for flight changes due to the storm will apply to Brunswick, Columbus, Savannah, and Valdosta in Georgia; Charleston, Hilton Head Island, and Myrtle Beach in South Carolina; and Daytona Beach, Fort Myers, Gainesville, Jacksonville, Key West, Orlando, Panama City, Sarasota, Tallahassee and Tampa in Florida. The waiver is good for flights booked August 28-31, with certain limitations.
Other airlines, including Southwest and American, are also waiving charges for those who had bookings to or from areas that may be affected by the storm.
