Mariah Carey Says ‘Not Yet’ To Christmas Fans
Some people just can’t wait for the Christmas season, even though we’re not even at Halloween. And a lot of those people associate Mariah Carey with Christmas, thanks to her massive hit “All I Want For Christmas Is You.” The song is so popular that Carey has become very closely associated with the holiday, even as she has multiple non-seasonal number-one singles over the decades, from “Vision Of Love” in 1990 to “Touch My Body” in 2008. And, of course, there are plenty of other artists who have scored hits with Christmas songs.
Still, some feel that it is Carey’s place to decide when the Christmas season starts. And she has a bit of fun with that idea in an Instagram post, which shows her flying in what we assume is her private jet.
In the video the pilot announces, “This is your captain speaking. Welcome aboard Mariah. We are headed to the North Pole.”
Carey yells back, “Not yet, sorry.”
“They always rush me,” she then whispers. No word about who “they” are. But the singer often “announces” the Christmas season on November 1, the day after Halloween, with a social media video that uses her song “All I Want For Christmas Is You.”
Speaking of “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” the album that featured that song, Merry Christmas, turns 30 this year. The album also includes other holiday classics, including “Silent Night,” “O Holy Night,” a cover of Darlene Love’s “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home),” “Joy To The World,” “Santa Claus Is Comin’ To Town” and others.
On November 6, she’ll kick off her “Christmas Time” tour in Highland, California. The tour will end on December 17 in New York City. Check out all the dates at her official website.
