August 2o is National Radio Day. To celebrate, let’s look over every pop single that topped the Billboard chart in the 2010s.
2010 Ke$ha 'TiK ToK' - TiK ToK stayed on the Hot 100 for nine weeks. In 2011, Kesha also became the first woman in history to top the year-end list with a debut single.
2011 - Adele 'Rolling In The Deep - This breakup anthem was No.1 on the Hot 100 for seven consecutive weeks. Adele later won six awards at the 2012 Grammys.
2012 - Gotye 'Somebody That I Used To Know' - You may love it or hate it, but we can guarantee that this song was stuck in your head at some point in 2012. The tune, featuring Kimbra, helped Gotye win Record of the Year at the 2013 Grammys.
2013 - Mackelmore and Ryan Lewis 'Thrift Shop' - Not only did this song dominate the Hot 100 charts, but it sold 7,208,000 copies in just the U.S. alone.
2014 - Pharrell 'Happy' - Happy marked the first time in eight years that a male artist topped the Billboard year-end chart with a non collaboration.
2015 - Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars 'Uptown Funk' - This song dominated 2015 and stayed at the top of the charts for 14 weeks.
2016 - Justin Bieber 'Love Yourself' - Not only did Justin have the No.1 spot at the end of 2016, but he also have the No. 2 spot with 'Sorry.'
2017 - Ed Sheeran 'Shape Of You' - This catchy tune was No.1 on the Hot 100 charts for 12 weeks. He later won the Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album a few months later.
2018 - Drake - God's Plan - This song dominated the Billboard Hot 100 spot for 11 weeks in a row. The touching video, which showed him donating a million dollars around Miami, also got a lot of attention.
2019 - Lil Nas X featuring Billy Ray Cyrus 'Old Town Road' - This song started out as an underdog and ended up breaking records. Old Town Road spent the most weeks at No.1 of any song in Billboard Hot 100 history (18 weeks).
