Aiken Animal Shelter May Have To Stop Intake
Overcrowding in animal shelters has been an ongoing problem. There are simply too many animals coming in, and not enough being adopted out. This is an issue going on all over the CSRA, and beyond. And now, the Aiken animal shelter, SPCA Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare, may have to stop intake.
In a post on Facebook, the SPCA shared an urgent update. Every enclosure they have, for both dogs and cats, are full. It’s even to the point they have dogs in crates in their hallways and cats and kittens in cages in their lobby.
They say closing intake is their last resort. It’s definitely not something they want to do. And now they’re asking for your help.
They are currently offering 1/2 off on kitten adoptions, or BOGO – noting that kittens thrive in pairs. For adult cats, adoption fees are just $25.
And due to generous donations, they have some dogs and cats that have been there for a long time, and the adoption fee is $0!
You can help make a difference. And adopting or fostering a pet doesn’t just change their lives… it can help save other animals by making room for intake. But it could also make a difference in your own life. Animals make great companions, and are good for your health!
