District Teacher of the Year Named in Columbia County
Greenbrier High School teacher Crystal McDowell was named Columbia County’s Teacher of the Year last night.
McDowell teaches 9-12 grade Biology and Anatomy. She was among five finalists for the coveted county honor. Teachers of the Year from each Columbia County school were also honored at a banquet last night at the Savannah Rapids Pavilion.
“We congratulate Ms. McDowell on being named Teacher of the Year. We know she will represent us well at the state level and beyond,” said Dr. Steve Flynt, Superintendent. “Tonight’s event is another shining example of what makes the Columbia County School District such a great place to learn and work.”
The other four finalists for the Teacher of the Year included Brook Andrews of Stallings Island Middle School; Allison Dixon of Greenbrier Elementary School; Cassandra Rodriguez of Evans High School; and Jennifer Roper of River Ridge Elementary School. Teachers of the Year from each Columbia County School were honored at last night’s banquet.
McDowell will represent Columbia County in the state Teacher of the Year competition later in the school year.
