Dirty Dough Cookie Shop Soft Opening In Augusta Is Happening This Weekend
The wait is almost over for the newest cookie shop in town! Dirty Dough, a gourmet cookie shop, is having its soft opening this weekend, October 28. They will be open from 10 am – 10 pm.
Dirty Dough is located at 3602 Exchange Lane in Augusta, GA.
Brent Maxwell is the founder of Dirty Dough Cookies. The cookie business started right in his dorm apartment building, in November of 2018, at Arizona State University. The cookies got so popular and began to sell out every night.
He then upgraded in a major way by opening his first storefront, in Tempe, AZ in March of 2020. Now there are dozens of locations across multiple states.
The franchise owner of the Augusta location is Michael Ralphs, CEO of Ralphs Franchising.
Where did the name Dirty Dough come from?
Many times when you think of a cookie you may think of something clean cut to perfection, even very precise icing décor if any – but their name refers to the inside of the cookie being “dirty.” Dirty meaning the cookie has fillings and goodies inside. These cookies can get messy and imperfect, and that’s what refers them to as being “dirty.”
One of their mottos is “It’s what’s on the inside that counts.” One of the messages that Dirty Dough hopes to spread through their cookies and business is that you should own who you are including those imperfections – because again what matters most is what’s on the inside.
While many franchises are now open, the Dirty Dough business hasn’t always had an easy time. They had found themselves in a “cookie war.” Crumbl Cookies, back in 2022, filed a lawsuit against them. The lawsuit stated that Dirty Doughs cookies, décor, packing, and presentation were extremely similar to Crumble Cookies’ brand.
The other similarities that were pointed out were that the cookie shops both offer an assortment of flavors and that their cookies are served in rectangular boxes.
U.S. District Judge Howard Nielson denied Crumbl’s additional request to halt Dirty Dough’s franchising activities in August of 2023.
Again, the soft opening is happening this weekend, October 28.
