In a new interview with Today, the Grammy-winning singer opened up about the 25th anniversary of her 1998 smash hit, “Believe.” She was asked "how amazing" it is that the song has reached the landmark anniversary. "It’s not that amazing, okay? It pisses the f--- out of me, and you can’t put that out,” she said, laughing during the Tuesday (November 28) interview.
Despite her downplaying “Believe," the singer promoted the repackaging of the "groundbreaking" classic on social media earlier this month for the anniversary. The song spent four weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned Cher her lone Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording, remaining an anthem for years to come. The song and album were also nominated for record and album of the year, respectively.

The Moonstruck star, who turned 77 this past May, was then asked if she and aging are friends, to which she exclaimed, “No! My mother didn’t mind, but I do. I hate it,” she responded. The singer's mom, Georgia Holt, died at 96 in December 2022. Cher recently paid tribute to her mother on social media this month. On X (formerly Twitter), Cher called Holt her beautiful, funny, one-of-a-kind, crazy mom. As Today’s Harry Smith tells Cher in their interview, turning 70 knocked him in a hole, while Cher responds, "I’d give anything to be 70 again!" Clearly having fun in the interview with Smith, who has interviewed her many times, Cher joked a lot about aging.
Elsewhere in the interview, Cher revealed she is writing a memoir because she's "lived too long and done too many things." The singer and actress put it best when she said it would probably be closer to an encyclopedia by the time she's finished with it. The singer's first Christmas album, titled Christmas, is out now, and she will perform on Christmas in Rockefeller Center airing Wednesday (November 29) on NBC and streaming on Peacock, in a special hosted by Kelly Clarkson. Other performers include Chloe Bailey, Adam Blackstone, David Foster, Liz Gillies, Darlene Love, Seth MacFarlane, Barry Manilow, Katharine McPhee, Keke Palmer, Carly Pearce, and Manuel Turizo.
