This Georgia Destination Is A Great Spring Vacation Spot
Yes, we are in the middle of winter, but it feels great to start thinking about the spring season. Daily Passport recently named the most underrated spring vacation destinations and a Georgia spot made the list.
“Instead of following that well-beaten path, why not head to one of the more underrated places in the U.S. to usher in the season,” Daily Passport states, encouraging readers to entertain unique options. The five places they name cover all corners of the country. However, the Georgia destination named was the only one in the southeast region.
Jekyll Island Is The Georgia Spring Vacation Recommendation
Some consider the spring season at Jekyll Island to be the most comfortable. “Temperatures in April and May range from the mid-70s to the low-80s Fahrenheit, and you’ll find plenty of outdoor activities to make the most of it,” Daily Passport states.
If you want to partake in one of the most unique events in Georgia, it also happens in the spring on Jekyll Island. The Turtle Crawl is on April 27. “Race with us on Jekyll Island as we mark the start of sea turtle nesting season on the Georgia coast,” Jekyll Island explains. Each of these annual events also has a significant cause behind it. That is because the Turtle Crawl benefits the Georgia Sea Turtle Center, which centers around rehabilitation, education, and research. Depending on how many miles you are up for, there are four different race options to choose from.
Other enjoyable springtime activities here include tennis, biking, ranger walks, and miles of walking routes. “Whether here for a week or a night, you’ll find Jekyll Island’s abounding peace and serenity,” JekyllIsland.com states.
Lastly, Jekyll Island is in some great company across the country in terms of the most underrated spring destinations. Daily Passport also included Nantucket, Juneau, Alaska, Yellowstone National Park, and Vail, Colorado.
