Eva Mendes Tells Ryan Gosling To ‘Come Home’ After Oscars
Ryan Gosling may be “Just Ken” to us, but to Eva Mendes and their two daughters, he’s “just dad.” Moments after his electrifying Oscars debut performance of the Barbie soundtrack hit, “I’m Just Ken” on Sunday night (March 10), Gosling was getting called back for his second job: bedtime duty.
Eva’s Request To Ryan
Mendes took to Instagram to offer a celebratory post in honor of her husband, urging him to hurry home after the 2024 Oscars. She captioned her post: “You took Ken all the way to the Oscar’s, RG. Now come home, we need to put the kids to bed. [kiss emoji].” The photo showed she was at the awards ceremony, posing backstage in Gosling’s dressing room, donning the pink studded blazer from his performance, topped with a black cowboy hat, cat eye sunglasses, and big hoop earrings. Behind her, we can see his black tux that he wore on the red carpet as well. The couple shares daughters Esmeralda, 9, and Amada, 7.
Earlier in the day, the actress posted a reel in front of Gosling’s dressing room. Using audio from “I’m Just Ken,” Mendes captioned the sweet post: “Always by my man.” Though she didn’t accompany him on the red carpet, Gosling’s sister and parents joined him. As we previously reported, Mendes explained why she and Gosling don't attend Hollywood events together. “We don’t do those things together. Like these photos I’ve been posting, Im only comfortable posting because it’s already out there.”

She added, “Oh wait -for those who may catch me in a ‘lie’ — we only were on the red carpet together once when promoting this film,” referencing their 2011 film, The Place Behind The Pines. Adding more context to what she meant by “not comfortable,” the actress added, “I mean exposing our very private life that we value. I’m still dying to do another movie with him though…” Despite her comments, fans still asked under her Oscars post: “Why didn’t you go with him.” And, “Big night for Ryan! You should have been there in support, by his side!! What a beautiful memory you could have shared together!!!”
Gosling’s “I’m Just Ken” (written byMark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt) was nominated for Best Original Song at the 96th Academy Awards. He was joined by backup singers and dancers, featuring unforgettable guest appearances by Slash and Wolfgang Van Halen, as well as several of the other Kens from Barbie, including Ncuti Gatwa, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Scott Evans, and Simu Liu.
The moment appeared to pay tribute to Marilyn Monroe’s iconic performance of “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend” in the 1953 film Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, down to the all-pink outfit.

Gosling was also nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Barbie, but the award ultimately went to Robert Downey Jr. for Oppenheimer.
