Masters Week: The Top 7 Restaurants The Locals Love In Augusta
Augusta Knows Golf and Great Food
It’s time for Masters Week in Augusta. If you live here, we all have our favorite places to eat, so I will share the top 7 restaurants the locals love in Augusta for all the patrons coming to town. We live here, know good food, and love to share, so they are in no particular order.
Masters Patrons and Locals Love Luigi’s
We have the perfect spot for you if you love tradition and Italian and Greek food. Located on Broad Street, downtown Augusta is a small family-run restaurant serving locals, partons, and golfers for many years. It has become a tradition for many golfers to stop in and have a pizza, some Greek chicken, or a great Italian dish.
Luigi’s was the first place in Augusta to serve pizza. It is still family-owned after over 70 years. The food is delicious, and you may run into a celebrity or two while you’re enjoying the delicious food.
Wifesaver Is A Southern Favorite
Another local family-owned business is Wifesaver. Serving Southern-style food since 1965 . Wifesaver has four locations in the Augusta area. The two closest to the golf action are the North Augusta and Washington Road locations. Wifesaver is all about the South and always has been.
For golf fans, there is fried chicken, banana pudding, sweet tea, and yes, pimento cheese and egg salad for golf fans and locals alike. The recipes haven’t changed since they opened their doors, and they have employees who have worked for them for over three decades. Wifesaver is a place you need to put on your list for when you’re in the Augusta area.
French Market Grille West
French Market Grille West is on Furys Ferry Road and offers “The Flavors of Mardi Gras.” Cajun and Creole cuisine. Crawfish Pie, Shrimp Creole Orleans, and my favorite, Po-Boys. Oyster po-boys, along with shrimp, Cajun chicken catfish po-boys, too. Top it off with a slice of their delicious peanut butter pie. You wouldn’t know it by their name, but this place has some of the best sushi in Augusta. The rolls are huge and delicious.
French Market Grill West also has a full bar. Their address is 368 Furys Ferry Rd.
Farmhaus Burgers
Everyone loves a great burger, right? According to their website, their HAUSmade, dry-aged, double patty beef burgers are made from a custom grind of Chuck, Brisket, and Short Rib sourced from local Southeastern Angus Beef. Burgers like the bacon and blue cheese, the farm style with a sunny-side-up local farm egg, heirloom smoked bacon, Gouda cheese, and Duke’s mayo. You can check out their menu here.
Farmhaus has a bar, too, with two locations: 466 Flowing Wells Rd, Martinez, and a downtown location on 1204 Broad St, Broad Street.
Becks Has the Best Oysters
Becks is known for its oysters and a great bar. Also, entrees like Blackened Grouper, Mississippi Fried Catfish, Fish and Chips, etc. Their shrimp burger with house-cut fries is a favorite, too. Becks is located at 2111 Kings Way in Augusta.
Frog Hollow Tavern
According to the Frog Hollow website, this is the Perfect Local Dining Experience. I’ve been and would have to agree with this. First, their Old Fashioned at Frog Hollow is the best. The food is made with regionally grown ingredients, and the atmosphere is perfect. Try the Wild-Caught Shrimp and Grits or the Grilled Angus Cowgirl Ribeye. You’re welcome.
Frog Hollow Tavern is located at 1282 Broad Street, downtown Augusta.
