Six Flags Over Georgia Implements New Chaperone Policy
Younger guests at Six Flags Over Georgia and Hurricane Harbor will now have to abide by a new chaperone policy that the park has implemented. The change will affect guests 15 years of age or younger.
According to Fox 5 Atlanta, any guests 15 years of age or younger will have to be accompanied by a chaperone who is at least 21 years old in order to be admitted to or to remain in the park after 4 p.m. daily. The park also says they reserve the right to enforce this policy earlier in the day if needed.
New Chaperone Policy At Six Flags Over Georgia
The new chaperone policy goes into affect at the Six Flags Over Georgia on Friday, July 26, 2024. According to the Six Flags website, the park says, “The safety of our guests and team members has always been our top priority.” The policy is part of their commitment to keeping the park a safe place for family and friends to enjoy fun and entertainment.
Chaperones are required to present a valid government-issued photo ID with date of birth upon entry. One chaperone can accompany up to 10 guests who are 15 years of age or younger. And the chaperone must accompany the guests during entry and remain inside the park during the visit. They must also be available by phone throughout the visit. Any guests 15 years of age or younger found inside the park without their chaperone during their visit will be subject to ejection.
This new policy will apply to all Six Flags Over Georgia ticket and season passholders.
The Six Flags website highlights the increasing number of “incidents of unruly and inappropriate behavior at amusement parks and other major entertainment venues.” The goal is to keep the park safe for all to enjoy.
Incident At Six Flags Over Georgia
Earlier in the year, there were several fights at Six Flags Over Georgia and a teenager was shot outside of the park by an officer responding to the incident. The teen was later charged with Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer, Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime, Possession of a Firearm Under 18, and Interference with Government Property.
According to Fox 5 Atlanta, many theme parks have implemented policies regarding teenagers, including Carowinds in Charlotte. At other parks, they “strongly recommend” minors under 18 be accompanied by an adult. Disneyland and DisneyWorld both require guests under 14 be accompanied by another guest of the same age or older.
