‘Honey Deuce’ Cocktail Expected To Make $10 Million At The US Open
Have you seen this viral Honey Deuce cocktail being served at the US Open? The drink is expected to bring in roughly $10 million this year!
Just like our clothing and our choice of music, our drinks can be trendy. Right now, it seems like there’s no trendier drink available out there than the Honey Deuce cocktail at the US Open. It’s allegedly responsible for bringing record numbers to the tennis tournament in Queens, New York.
What Is The Honey Deuce Cocktail At The US Open?
Wondering what the Honey Deuce cocktail is and what makes it so special? You’re not alone. It’s a trending Google search. According to The New York Post, it’s an alcoholic beverage that’s a combination of vodka, lemonade, and a raspberry liqueur garnished with three tennis ball-shaped honeydew melons. That sounds incredibly refreshing, especially on a hot day watching some tennis. In fact, it might be more of a draw than the matches themselves, according to many fans!
Nearly everyone who attends the event seems to have bought a drink. It’s everywhere in photos and videos from the US Open. The Honey Deuce creator and restauranteur Nick Moutone tells The New York Post, “Did I think it would be popular? Did I think people would enjoy it? Did I think people would want to order more? Absolutely. Once social media took hold, people were able to email photos all over the world and share their photos with friends all over the world. It’s taken on a life of its own since then.” I don’t know much about Nick beyond this quote and his lovely invention, but he reminds me of Elaine’s date on Seinfeld who is always asking himself questions. He asked himself 3 in a row there!
According to The New York Post, last year more than 450,000 Honey Deuces were served during the Open during its 2-week run from late August into early September. This year, sales are expected to exceed more than $10 million! However, you get more than a refreshing drink and a buzz from the trending beverage. It also comes in a souvenir cup with the names of past US Open winners on it. Sure, it’s $23, but it’s New York! You’re not paying much less for a bottle of water there. The drink sounds incredible and is a great way to make watching tennis a bit more entertaining, it sounds like! It also sounds simple enough where you could try your hand at making it at home yourself! I’m sure there’s a DIY video on TikTok somewhere detailing how to do it.
The tournament concludes this weekend in the Bronx.
