Georgia: Did You Know You Can Go Flowriding At These Locations?
It’s not as easy as it looks, but it is as fun as it looks. If you’re unfamiliar, flowriding uses a smaller style board that is essentially part wakeboard, part balance board in a manmade wave pool. In Georgia, there are two places where you can engage in a Flowrider experience.
This sport dates back almost 25 years. Tom Lochtefeld, the creator behind Waveloch, is often credited as the founder. Its popularity increased when Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines added a flowriding pool to their activity deck in 2006.
So, here is where you can try flowriding in Georgia
Aside from the various cruise lines that offer flowriding as an activity, there are some great Flowrider wave pools in Georgia to try out.
First, Splash in the Boro Waterpark and Aquatics Center in Statesboro has a Flowrider pool. It does require its own pass. This can be purchased for $10 per day or $50 for the season.
If you head over to Jonesboro, you will find another Flowrider attraction. This is at the Spivey Splash Water Park. This park is currently closed as it is seasonal. However, you can jump back into the flow come spring. “With only 2 FlowRiders in the state of Georgia, let’s get ready to carve some turns and ride up and down the surface of your very own unbroken wave….If you can hold on, of course,” Spivey Splash says.
They make a good point. Here are a few helpful tips for mastering your Flowrider session. First of all, be patient. This has multiple meanings. Only one person can ride at a time, which means there is always a singular line. The person in the pool typically is done with their turn when they fall, and the board flies up the wave and settles in the back water. If you are new to the activity, it’s important to remember to keep your weight on your back foot. Again, this could be a different technique than you are used to if you are a skateboarder, snowboarder, or surfer. Your backfoot is essentially your crutch. Then, your hip movements (and balance) steer your ride.
Lastly, keep your arms out and have fun.
Georgia Destination Named A Best Tiny House Hotel
A recent report by Shermans Travel detailed the 10 best Tiny House hotels in America, and a Georgia destination made the list. “Tiny homes are one of the hottest residential design trends right now,” they explain.
In addition, Realtor.com published a story last year that gave readers a glimpse of what exactly is going on with the Tiny House trend in America. But what is a Tiny House? Typically, they are 100 to 400 square feet. Many of them (though not a requirement) are situated in quieter areas. It is very common to find tiny home communities tucked within nature, in a peaceful and serene setting.
Other common attributes include creative ways to establish storage space and loft beds. They are often energy-efficient simply due to the smaller footprint requiring less utility power.
“If you’re considering the tiny-home lifestyle, take it for a test drive before you hire a builder and go all-in,” Realtor explained. That is another reason why having such Tiny House hotel options is helpful. It gives those who are interested a chance to try it out.
Live A Little Chatt – Rising Fawn, Georgia
Located just 30 miles outside Chattanooga, Live A Little Chatt has three Tiny Houses on the property to stay at. “It’s evident that each was built with love and intention,” Shermans Travel explains. The Old Blue Chair house accommodates up to five guests, while the Shangri-Little and Wandering Gypsy can sleep three people.
Visitors to Rising Fawn Georgia are in close proximity to Cloudland Canyon State Park. That’s where you will find hiking trails and two waterfalls. However, there is also nothing wrong with staying on the hotel grounds to embrace the simple environment around you to unwind fully.
Each of the three options at this Georgia destination that was named in the list of best Tiny House hotels is uniquely different from each other. “We strive to give you the place to find your bliss and live deliberately.” Live A Little Chatt says.
