Extremely High Temperatures in the CSRA
Press Release From Columbia County:
Forecasters from the US National Weather Service project extremely high temperatures for the next few weeks with triple digits likely for Tuesday and Wednesday. When spending time outside there are multiple avenues by which you can mitigate the sun’s effects. Wear protective gear including sunglasses, protective clothing and hats. Stay cool and hydrated by seeking shade and drinking plenty of water. Apply sunscreen which has an SPF of at least 30, even if not in direct sunlight, to prevent sunburn and sun damage.
If you are out and about and need to get out of the heat, please visit the Columbia County Library, Patriot’s Park or any number of the county’s public facilities during normal operating hours.
Columbia County Emergency Management Agency encourages you to stay hydrated and avoid long exposure to the sun. In addition, don’t forget your furry friends. If you’re hot, they’re hot. Make sure they have plenty of water and shade, and don’t leave them in a hot car. For periodic tips, please visit the Columbia County Public Safety and Emergency Response page on Facebook and visit https://www.ready.gov/heat to help prepare you and your loved ones for extreme heat.
