It’s that time again – time to enjoy the weekend! Don’t become a victim of a dull life. Planning things to do can be stressful and cause you to just want to sit everything out. Well, stress no longer because we’ve found some things to do in Augusta and surrounding areas that just might be right for you. Most of the events are even kid friendly.

• Art at Lunch: Gretsch Instruments

  On Friday, June 2, Paul Cooper, director of operations and production for the Gretsch Company, will be speaking at The Morris Museum. Learn about the drum manufacturing process and working with some of the biggest names in music with a catered lunch.

• Down to the River

  This sports and music festival will take place June 2 and June 3, in North Augusta at Riverside Village. Here is a brief schedule of what will be featured at the event.

  Friday, June 2
  6pm – Critical Nice Bike Ride – FREE
  6:30pm – Hammond’s Ferry Mile – running
  7:30 – Jordan Feliz – FREE – Sharon Jones amphitheater

  Saturday, June 3
  9am – Vendors and Food Trucks
  9am – Urban Trail 5K & 10K
  10am – Paddle Races on the Savannah River

• Boondock Revival 3

  Saturday, June 3 Boondock Farms in Jackson, SC will be hosting a music festival. Dance the night away with Big Sky Revival Band, Reedy River String Band, The Mason Jars, and AJ Howell. They’ll even be a bonfire that night.

• Kids Fishing Derby

  On June 3, if you know some kids that love fishing, Claypits Lake is the spot to be. Ages 3 to 15 years old are allowed to participate. Each child will receive bait, door prizes and lunch. Trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place will be given for total pounds of fish caught in four age groups. Be sure to bring your own fishing pole! Limit one pole per child. For more, click here.

• Summer Beach Blast

  If you are missing the beach, it’ll be in Evans Towne Center Park this weekend on June 3! Put your toes in the sand, enjoy beach music by the Catalinas, and local vendors.

• Summer Block Party

  Children of all ages can come out to Lake Olmstead Baseball Field on June 3rd to celebrate summer break. There will be food, games, painting, prize giveaways, bounce houses, music and more. All for free!

• Summer Block Party with the Island Princess

  On June 4, at Reed Creek Nature Park, Children of all ages can kick off the summer with singing, dancing, face painting, games, and crafts
