Kelly Clarkson Loves Therapy: ‘It’s Important’
Kelly Clarkson did a cover story interview with People magazine, and in the article, she talked about her love of therapy.
Kelly said she is so “appreciative” for having a “healthy outlet” in writing and recording her latest album, Chemistry, after her tough divorce from Brandon Blackstock. She noted, “Because the level of depression and things that come with divorce or grieving is extraordinarily hard. You feel alone, and it’s just a blessing to be able to have that outlet for those emotions that are overwhelming.”
She continued that “finally” releasing the album in June of 2023 was like, “‘I’m taking my power back.'” Clarkson added. “That sounds very ‘therapy,’ but that’s because I love therapy, and I think it’s important to have those tools to navigate your life and relationships.”
Kelly scored three GRAMMY nominations for the album, including Best Pop Vocal Album.
Speaking of awards, Clarkson won six Daytime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Daytime Talk Series and Host of The Kelly Clarkson Show.

She also performed a Las Vegas Residency in August at Planet Hollywood, where she brought her two kids, River Rose, 9, and son Remington Alexander, 7, whom she shares with ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, on stage. Kelly told People the kids were “a little nervous” to join her on stage, but it was their idea.
Performing in front of a sold-out theater, River sang a duet of her mom’s “Heartbeat Song,” while Remington danced backup as Clarkson sang “Whole Lotta Woman.”
She saw how her kids watched her, with the audience revealing it felt like they were “looking at me how they watch Spider-Man.” She said the moment caught her “completely off guard,” and it was the “most magical moment” because they were so happy.
With her TV talk show now filming in New York City, where she resides with her two kids, the busy single mom says she is grateful for new beginnings. She concluded that sometimes you don’t know what life has in store for you and how “beautiful” that can be.
